Information You Submit
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or other search detail into a third-party search tool on this site, that query is sent to the provider operating the tool. We do not keep our own database of those search terms or use them to create official King and Queen County, MPRSC, or Virginia FOIA records.
Messages
If you send an email or contact message, we use the information in that message to respond. We do not share contact messages outside the organization unless a valid legal requirement, such as a subpoena, court order, or other lawful demand, requires disclosure.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may receive routine technical information when a page loads or a link is clicked.
- Your IP address.
- Browser type and browser version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- The referring website, when your browser sends one.
- Date and time stamps tied to visits and requests.
Cookies
Cookies and similar tools may help us understand how visitors use the site and whether pages about MPRSC, the Sheriff's Office, VADOC, BOP, ICE, or Virginia VINE are working correctly. You can block cookies in your browser, but some search, ad, or analytics features may behave differently.
How the Information Is Used
- To keep pages available, readable, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the provider that operates a selected search tool.
- To understand which jail, records, court, and locator pages are useful to readers.
- To diagnose broken links, loading problems, and other technical issues.
- To display advertising that may reflect general visitor interests.
Outside Websites
This site links to public agencies and resources, including Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center, King and Queen County pages, the VADOC locator, BOP, ICE, Virginia VINELink, and court or records portals. Government records requests in Virginia may be governed by Virginia FOIA provisions such as Sections 2.2-3700, 2.2-3704, and 2.2-3706; once you leave this site, the privacy notice for the destination site controls.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure views, clicks, or interests across websites. Those activities are controlled by the advertising provider, not by King and Queen County Inmate Population.
Who May Receive Information
We do not sell personal information as a standalone product. Information may be available to these limited categories when needed:
- Search partners that process the queries visitors choose to submit.
- Analytics services that help measure site performance and use.
- Ad networks that serve or measure advertising.
- Law-enforcement agencies, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order or applicable law requires disclosure.
Security
We use ordinary safeguards for a public information website, but no internet-connected service can be promised to be completely secure. We cannot guarantee that data sent through a browser, email account, partner tool, or outside locator will be immune from every risk.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor submitted information, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.
Your Choices
- Ask for a copy of personal information we maintain about you.
- Request correction of information you believe is inaccurate.
- Request deletion where retention is not legally or operationally required.
- Opt out of certain processing where an opt-out right applies.
Changes to This Notice
This Privacy Notice may be revised as the site, partner tools, analytics services, advertising practices, or legal requirements change. Updated terms will appear on this page with a new effective date when one is posted.
